2020 Off To A Great Start

It’s been two weeks since the sap started to run. There have been stops and starts, day to day, week by week. We are experiencing a very mild Winter this year in Connecticut and we are happy to be able to make syrup, whether it be three weeks or a full season of six weeks. If the sap flows we’ll boil it!

We are currently offering two batches of fresh syrup that were made these last two weeks. Batch #1 is sweet with a buttery smoothness and Batch #2 is sweet with a mild maple flavor and reminds me of the maple cotton candy I’ve had at the Durham Fair.

We’ll be bottling the next batch this afternoon and open today from 12:00-5:00

Stop by, say hello and enjoy free tastings of our fresh maple syrup!

Sugaring Season 2020

Seven hundred taps were set last weekend in preparation of an early start to this year’s Sugaring Season. Sap started flowing Sunday January 26th and continued through Wednesday, collecting about 500 gallons each day and then boiled that evening.

Colder temperatures moved in Thursday which stopped the sap from flowing but gave us ample time to filter & bottle 19.5 gallons of Batch #1. This sweet & buttery syrup is ready for sale at the Sugarhouse beginning Saturday Feb. 1st 10:00-5:00 & Sunday Feb. 2nd 12:00-5:00
