An Early Start to the 2018 Sugaring Season

01/24/18 Unseasonably warm temps last weekend have  led  to an early start of our  2018 sugaring season,  Five hundred taps were set the previous week after viewing the favorable 10 day forecast. Warm days above 40 degrees, followed by below freezing nights,  are ideal conditions for sap to flow. Four consecutive flow days & 3 boiling days produced  Batch #1 yielding 9.5 gallons of a sweet medium amber syrup.  The sugarhouse will be open this Saturday Jan 27 10-5 & Sunday 1/28 Noon-5  for sales and free syrup tastings.
